The day began with Praise and Worship with Deaconess from Peace Baptist Church. This set the tone for the day followed by prayer and a heart-felt welcome. Everything that followed took the day higher spiritually and educationally with workshops from the following presenters:
Christiana Rawlins, a financial advisor from Merrill Lynch in Baltimore, Maryland was well versed in her subject matter and added to the burst of enthusiasm which the opening group started at the beginning of the conference.
Minister Bessie Jones, from Evangel Cathedral, Bowie, Maryland taught the women How To Speak With Power and Might. This left everyone excited and moved the audience to the next level.
Dorothera Gonzales, Outreach Liaison from Capital Hospice, Washington, DC created an atmosphere that would give ease to dealing with grief. This was right on time because grief and loss is truly inevitable.
Reverend Dr. Unnia Pettis, author and associate minister of Galilee Baptist Church, Suitland, Maryland excited and brought the crowd to their feet in tears as she told her story on ABUSE and introduced her fast selling book “It Was Nobody But God.”
Reverend E. Faith Bell, First Lady of Peace Baptist Church was so excited she took the crowd to another level just above the floor. By this time we were so worked up lunch was served.
After lunch, the audience was in awe as Tasha Williams, Store Manager at Wal-Mart in Bowie, Maryland, who was the keynote speaker, as she talked about Leadership and shared her personal story. She left the crowd with the zeal to move forward.
All the women were made honorary members of Women Of Excellence NWAS. They accepted and are ready to move forward from this event. The women were encouraged to go out and share their story. When they do, they will find out just how many women have a similar story. The organization is looking forward to other ways and the next move to reach abused /oppressed female beginning in middle school.
Since the Saturday event, the organization has received several inquiries as to when another group can sponsor them to share their information. Contact us at www.womenofexcellencenwas.org, loracjmurphy @ aol.com or call Carolyn Murphy at 301 599 6032.
